Unemployment Rate in Jakarta Declines

Unemployment rate in Jakarta for this year is lower compared to last year. Total unemployment rate in 2018 reached 314,840 people, while in 2019 it reduces to 279,590 people.

Jakarta Statistics Indonesia (BPS)'s Social Statistics Division Head, Suryana mentioned, based on National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) issued on February 2019, working age population in Jakarta is as many as 7,930,260 people while total workforce in Jakarta in 2019 is 5,447,510 people.

"Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Jakarta on February 2019 is 5.13 percent from number of workforce," he added, Thursday (10/3).

Independent Entrepreneur Training Launched in Central Jakarta

He explained, working age population ranged from 15 years and over. While, workforce is people in working age who are working or temporary don't work and unemployed.

"Based on data, unemployment rate in Jakarta this year is lower by 1.11 percent than last year," he asserted.

Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Department Head, Andri Yansyah stated Jakarta Government will work optimally to facilitate residents who are looking for job or those who want to be entrepreneur.

"Every year, Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Department is routinely holding job fair in five Jakarta regions. Thus job fair is also participated by tens companies and thousands job opportunities," he explained.

According to him, his side also provides work training for free through Regional Job Training Center (PPKD) and Industrial Development Work Training Center (PPKPI).

"Those who participate in work training will get certifiate based on their skills. This way, they can be easier in getting job because there are link and match. But if they want to create business, they already have enough skill," he conveyed.
